Stephen Robertson Director General
|
|

Stephen's career has spanned 14 years on the boards of major UK retailers building on earlier management roles with Mars Inc, Unilever and Alberto-Culver.
Stephen served for seven years as Marketing Director at B&Q plc before leading the acquisition of Screwfix Direct which he then chaired steering it through a period of strong growth. He went on to become Director of Communications at Kingfisher plc and took the helm of the Ellen MacArthur sponsorship.
Most recently Stephen served for 3 years on the retail board at Woolworth plc.
He is a former Chairman, and now Fellow, of the Marketing Society and acknowledged as one of the UK's top retail marketeers.

Andrew Opie Director of Food and Consumer Policy
|

Andrew heads up the food and consumer policy team which covers a wide range of regulatory and policy issues. Key issues are food legislation, food safety, the role of supermarkets, distance selling and consumer law and enforcement. He and his team are extremely active in London and Brussels, liaising with key Government departments and agencies, including FSA, Defra, Department of Health and the European Commission.
Andrew has been at the BRC since 2005 and previously was Head of Policy Services at the National Farmers' Union. He is also a qualified chartered surveyor.

Jane Milne Director of Business Environment
|

Jane leads the Business Environment team which covers a broad range of business cost and sustainability issues including property, planning and regeneration, energy and transport, tax and business rates, crime, employment and diversity, risk and safety, environment including climate change, and ethical sourcing. The team works with retailers across the whole spectrum of membership to lobby government for improvements in the legislative and regulatory environments and in public service delivery, and with supplier and customer groups on issues of mutual concern.
Jane took up her post in late 2007, having led a team working on a broad range of similar issues at the Association of British Insurers since 2001. Prior to this she was a career Civil Servant at HM Treasury and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

Fiona Moriarty Director - Scottish Retail Consortium

Fiona is currently on maternity leave
Fiona's key areas of work include maintaining the political and industry profile of the retail sector in Scotland, through information sharing, research activity and further developing links with key sector partners, including the Scottish Government and Scottish Parliament. This is supported by representation on a wide range of action groups, committees and boards, including the Executive Committee of the SCDI and board of the Scottish Business Crime Centre.
Fiona is also a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commence, and a member of the Institute of Directors.

Alisdair Gray Director - BRC in Brussels
|
|

Alisdair has overall responsibility for the running of the BRC Brussels office. He joined the BRC in 2003 having spent six years in political and corporate communications consulting at EU and international level.
Alisdair has responsibility for trade policy, Europe's sustainable production and consumption programme and working to ensure credit card companies give a better deal to Europe's consumers. He is a seasoned Brussels campaigner, having worked on the Chocolate Directive campaign, Bra Wars, the dioxins crisis and the Footwear Antidumping campaign.
His current priorities are climate change and the credit card interchange fee.

Keith Evans Chief Executive, BRC Trading Limited

Keith is responsible for leading the BRC's work to develop its commercial strategy and for the implementation of the resultant business plans for publications, training, Global Standards, events and the development of new income streams. He works with the BRCT Board colleagues and reports regularly to the Board of Management and Finance & General Purposes Committee on progress of the business.
