British Retail Consortium Seminar
Tax Shop

Sponsored by: KPMG

The retail industry, perhaps more than any other service sector in the UK, is faced with a vast, complex, ever changing and costly array of financial legislation and regulation.

To be aware, unravel, interpret and implement this plethora of often confusing financial tax and VAT obligations is crucial not only for a business's planning and decision making process but also vital for a retailer of any size and operation to survive and thrive.

The British Retail Consortium has developed a "Tax Shop" specific to retailers, which is a one-day practical seminar (to be run in both York and London) designed for professionals with responsibility for financial matters or for those who deal directly with the Inland Revenue or HM Customs.

Retail and tax/VAT experts will provide delegates with a better knowledge and understanding of the current and future issues surrounding:

  • VAT and the Merchant Charge
  • VAT and Gift Vouchers
  • Company Cars
  • Payroll including Family Tax Credits
  • Corporate Tax Self-Assessment
  • VAT Liability
  • Pensions

There will also be a "How To Manage a VAT Visit - A Practical Guide on the do's and don'ts", plus sessions on the current macro-economic climate and the recent Budget ramifications given by BRC's Chief Economic Adviser, Bridget Rosewell.

Audience

This highly practical and participative day is ideal for directors, managers and staff who have to make or have an input on their company's financial decisions and budgeting such as:

  • Accountants
  • Direct Tax Managers
  • Finance Directors
  • Financial Controllers
  • Indirect Tax Managers
  • Tax Accountants
  • Plus those who deal with company cars, gift vouchers, payroll, pensions, and liaise with the Inland Revenue and HM Customs.
