NIRC Policies and Issues
The NIRC’s central aim is to ensure that the Northern Ireland Assembly and Northern Ireland Executive create the right trading environment to allow for continuing investment, job creation and innovation by retailers of all sizes.
The NIRC brings together multiple retailers providing inward investment, job creation and access to external markets for Northern Ireland produce in one, single united voice. We work closely with other representative bodies to ensure retailing is given the focus it deserves.
From environmental health and consumer protection officers in local authorities, through to the departments and agencies of the Northern Ireland Executive, to the European institutions in Brussels, all aspects of the machinery of government now impact on the modern retail sector.
Retail is important at the individual, community and national level, and it is for this reason that the sector needs a policy framework which will sustain and develop its economic prospects, as well as enabling the sector to meet its corporate social responsibilities to the communities it serves.
