Small Business Retail Lease
The BRC in conjunction with the RICS has developed a small business lease for the retail sector, called the Small Business Retail Lease.

Negotiating a lease to take your first commercial property is often complicated, long winded and costly and detracts a start-up from concentrating their energies on creating a successful business. The Small Business Retail Lease simplifies that process. It is a very flexible lease, lasting no longer than 5 years, with fixed property costs and a break clause and it is free to use.

Whilst providing small retail business with a simplified lease it also enables landlords to let vacant space and restore the property's viability in the marketplace.

The lease aims to keep legal costs low for both parties but it is not a substitute for legal advice which we would advise you seek in any commercial property leasing negotiation.
