Policies & Issues

The Local Government Policy Action Group (PAG) of the BRC covers issues including local government finance, property taxation and town centre development and regeneration.

In the last twelve months the PAG has campaigned in relation to the non-domestic rating revaluation and transitional arrangements in England, Wales and Scotland, the introduction of Business Rate Supplements and the Crossrail funding proposal.

The BRC's 21st Century High Streets report, published in July 2009, examines the immediate and long-term challenges facing High Street and town centre locations and was produced with the active input of the Local Government PAG.

The key priorities for the Local Government PAG over the next twelve months are:

- Addressing business costs and burdens affecting the sector;
- Improving the current level of local engagement and partnership
