UK RETAIL TRAFFIC WEATHER MAP™ FROM IPSOS RETAIL PERFORMANCE

The UK Retail Traffic Weather Map™ shows in a simple visual way how shopper numbers (footfall) are changing month by month. It is generated from the Retail Traffic Index™ and the sample is derived from 1.02 billion shopping trips per annum to more than 5,000 outlets, providing comprehensive coverage of the nation's population, its retail sectors and store location types, spanning high streets, shopping malls, transport hubs and retail parks.
The monthly weather map consists of four sections:
- Map 1: Year-on-year change (last month versus the same month a year ago)
- Map 2: Month-on-month change (last month versus the previous month)
- Map 3: Forecast for this month (the prediction for the month ahead)
- Section 4: Brief commentary on last month's data and this month's predictions
All Maps are broken down further into five regions, representing consolidated Government Office Regions:
- Northern England
- Scotland & N Ireland
- The Midlands
- SW England & Wales
- London & the South East
