RETAIL CRIME CONFERENCE 2006 & LAUNCH OF THE BRC RETAIL CRIME SURVEY 2005-06: THE CHANGING FACE OF CRIME AND HOW RETAILERS ARE RESPONDING
|
| OCTOBER 11, 2006 |

The issues for retailers in the fight against crime haven't changed, but the ways criminals are behaving have. Violence against staff, internal fraud, card not present fraud – these are all issues that remain for the retail industry, yet we are witnessing an increase in aggressive behaviour, customers and staff are becoming more sophisticated against retailers improved crime prevention systems and in turn organised crime is becoming a greater threat for the retailer with the increase in money laundering and the circulation of counterfeit goods. In response, the BRC has brought together a number of retailers and stakeholders to talk about how they are dealing with these issues and point other retailers in the direction of help and support as well as new ideas and strategies. This event is for retail loss prevention specialists working across the business as well as those involved in IT, finance and operations. Business protection is the whole organisation's responsibility and this event has been produced for those professionals with different remits to share ideas as well as best practice. The Conference will also launch the BRC Retail Crime Survey 2005-06 results.
