SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS

BRC CHEMICALS PROJECT

The BRC Environment team are currently working on a 'Chemicals Project' on behalf of 12 BRC retail members to provide a management tool to assist in developing a chemicals strategy and priority list of chemicals of concern.
The benefits of joining this group include potential cost savings by working together on this collaborative project and the joined-up approach in dealing with NGO campaigns such as the recent FOE chemicals questionnaire in particular, as well as consistency among the retail community.
The Group now wish to open up the further development of this project to other retailers and would welcome new participants for stage two.
Although these new participants have not paid for work to date, the Group have agreed that results/information developed for stage one should be open for these new participants but that new participants should pay a joining fee.
The next stage of activities will explore possible substitutes, updates to the management tool, regular stakeholder meetings, assistance in developing chemical strategies and other collaborative work of benefit to the project members.
