The British Retail Consortium
The British Retail Consortium (BRC) is the lead trade association for the UK retail sector and the authoritative voice of the industry to policy makers and the media. We represent retailing in all its forms in every UK location and work on the full range of issues affecting the sector. Our aim is to ensure the UK's political and regulatory framework is such that retailers can maintain their outstanding record on job creation, consumer choice and product innovation.
Retail lies at the heart of every constituency and is vital to the health of UK plc. With almost three million people directly employed in the sector (one in every eight households) and with 60 billion visits by consumers each year, retail plays a unique role in listening to and leading our communities.
Prior to the election, the BRC published its vision for maintaining a vibrant retail sector in the months and years ahead. Retail: Delivering Sustainable Recovery sets out the many benefits the sector delivers across the UK, as well as highlights those key policy areas where regulatory change is necessary for retailers to continue to thrive. As and when details of the Government are ironed out and the new Parliament begins work, the BRC will continue to highlight this vision with parliamentarians.
