WASTE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT DIRECTIVE (WEEE DIRECTIVE)
Distributor Take Back Scheme (DTS) – Retail Compliance Scheme

Under the WEEE Directive, retailers of electrical and electronic equipment must either offer in-store take back, or enter the Distributor Take Back Scheme (DTS), The compliance scheme invests funds in an alternative collection infrastructure centred upon upgrading a network of Civic Amenity (CA) sites to offer collection facilities to the end-user.

Valpak, an existing provider of compliance and recycling services, operates the scheme and facilitates both the registration of retailers and the distribution of funds to local authorities. A website is available to allow retailers to register to join the DTS, and it contains all the details of what to do and what the scheme means for prospective members. The website address is: www.valpak.co.uk/dts
