SCOTTISH RETAIL EXCELLENCE AWARDS WINNERS
November 1, 2006
John Lewis Partnership has been named Scottish Retailer of the year at the first ever Scottish Retail Excellence Awards.

Overall twelve awards were handed out at the gala ceremony at the Glasgow Hilton last night (Tuesday 31 October) including a lifetime achievement award, which was presented to outgoing Scottish Retail Consortium Chairman, Eddie Thompson.

The awards are designed to recognise the top achievers of Scottish retail and showcase the vision, customer focus, leadership and innovation that exemplify the best within the sector.

More than 500 of Scotland's leading retail figures attended the dinner, which is sure to become a feature of the Scottish retail calendar.

SRC Director Fiona Moriarty said: "I have been extremely impressed by the standard of all the entries, which have shown that there is real quality and depth right across Scotland's retail landscape. But while the judges had a difficult job in every category the eventual winners demonstrated something extra special be it in terms of vision, customer focus, leadership or innovation.

"All the companies that were involved should be congratulated not only for being nominated but for the outstanding contribution they have made to the Scottish retail industry. I look forward to the further development of these awards in future years."
